As more cases of COVID-19 continue to be reported in the United States, it is understandable to be concerned about any possible sources of risk. In terms of egg donor screening, Donor Egg Bank USA (DEB USA) and our partner clinics are following the recommendations put forth by the AATB Physician's Council, based on data reported by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). DEB USA is recommending our partner clinics to defer donors in any of the following situations:
If any of the reasons for deferral apply, a donor will have to demonstrate at least 28 consecutive days without symptoms before she will be able to complete her donation. The CDC keeps an updated list of alert levels and areas with risk of community spread on their website at https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/. Donor Egg Bank USA is advising all freezing partners to follow these guidelines and will continue to monitor if any further updates to these guidelines are announced.
